Get Capital Region Ready

Be Aware.Plan.Prepare.

While local emergency services (police, fire, emergency medical) are well equipped to quickly and effectively provide help when emergencies arise, the response demands of a major disaster can quickly outpace capacity. Each and every household must be ready to fend for their own needs for at least 72-hours (three days) after an emergency begins.

If you haven’t already done so, be sure to familiarize yourself with the most common hazards or threats to the Hartford area.

This website will help you develop a Family Disaster Plan so that each member of your household knows what to do during a disaster and how to be prepared in advance.

Once you develop your plan, other important considerations include sheltering in place, evacuation and training.
